LANS parent company supports local programs
May 27, 2010—Eleven local nonprofit organizations received a certificate and checks totaling $25,000 on Wednesday from URS Washington Group, one of the parent companies of Los Alamos National Security, LLC.
At a presentation ceremony organized by the Community Programs Office, Associate Director for Nuclear and High Hazard Operations Bob McQuinn, representing URS Washington Group, thanked representatives of these organizations for the work they do in local communities:
- New Mexico Friends for Foster Children
- LANL Laces Program
- Wreaths Across America
- Española Valley Humane Society

- Young Adults Yearn for Literacy Project
- Friends Forever Foundation
- New Mexico Dance Theatre Performance Company
- Piñon Sixth Grade Leadership Club Service Project

- Taos Men Engaged in Nonviolence Inc.
"Thank you for what you do. You do all the heavy lifting," McQuinn said. "Thank you, all of you, for the different roles you play in your community. In the end, we're all changed for the better.
“I’m really proud to be part of a company willing to invest in community programs like these,” said McQuinn, adding that URS Washington Group looks for needs of nonprofit organizations that don't get met through other funding and gifting programs.
