Repaving of West Jemez Road continues; Pajarito Road being milled now
Reduce speed, watch for bicyclists and pedestrians in work area
August 17, 2010—Repaving of a short section of West Jemez Road has begun and cold milling of a 3.5-mile stretch of Pajarito Road also is under way. Drivers are reminded to reduce their speed, use caution, and be aware of bicyclists and pedestrians when traveling through the work area.
Existing pavement has been removed, through a process called cold milling, on West Jemez Road, according to Vince Sing of the Lab's Project Management Function Division. The work area on West Jemez Road is from near the S-Site entrance east in two separate sections to Camp May Road.
Marcon Excavating, the general contractor for the project, is now cold milling Pajarito Road from Technical Area 46 to near the White Rock intersection of NM 4, said Sing. The contractor is working from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Flag persons will direct motorists and bicyclists through the work area and some delays are possible during the day through the work area.
