Baron awarded National Intelligence Medallion

February 2, 2012—Miles Baron of Los Alamos National Laboratory has been awarded the National Intelligence Medallion from James R. Clapper, Director of National Intelligence (DNI).
This prestigious award is given to recognize special and unique contributions to the successful accomplishment of an Intelligence Community’s mission. Clapper presented Baron with the award in a formal ceremony in Washington D.C., attended by Baron’s wife and son.
Scientific contributions
Baron has provided original and insightful analyses that affected judgments across the Intelligence Community. Baron was commended for being available whenever he was needed, at no small cost to his personal and family life. He also coached and mentored numerous analysts to understand and correctly interpret critical information.
He joined the Laboratory in 1988 and has received multiple awards for his work, including an individual LANL Distinguished Performance Award.He has served as special advisor to the Lab’s deputy director and on the Science Council for the assistant secretary for Defense Programs in the Department of Energy.
Baron has a doctorate in plasma physics from Auburn University.
