McMillan outlines priorities to legislators
Lab Director Charlie McMillan testifies to the legislature's Committee on Science, Technology, and Telecommunications.
October 27, 2011—Director Charlie McMillan told a state legislative committee Tuesday (October 25) that his top priorities for the future are to deliver on LANL's commitments to the nation through science, teaming, and innovation.
"Doing that," McMillan said, "requires competing on the world stage to attract exceptional talent, and having signature facilities for them to conduct their research."
McMillan's testimony came before the Interim Committee on Science, Technology, and Telecommunications. Other topics included
- improvements in the Lab's workforce demographics,
- economic impact on the region,
- the recent NNSA Record of Decision on the Chemistry and Metallurgy Research Replacement (CMRR) Nuclear Facility, and
- investments in science education.
