Leadership changes in Prime Contract Office and ADCLES
December 23, 2010—Steve Shook joins the Laboratory as director of the Prime Contract Management Office. He succeeds Mike Rafferty, who has taken an assignment with Bechtel in Santiago, Chile.
Shook comes to Los Alamos with more than 25 years of federal contract administration experience. For the past dozen years, he served Bechtel Jacobs Company LLC, where, most recently, he managed the company’s prime contract with the Department of Energy for environmental cleanup and waste management in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
From 1996 to 1998, Shook was a procurement and subcontracts manager and also worked in prime contract management for Bechtel Nevada during the time it managed and operated the Nevada Test Site.
During his career, Shook has also managed the subcontract effort for $600 million in construction at the Tonopah Test Range in support of the F117A Stealth fighter and managed construction and service subcontracts in support of DOE’s operations at the Rocky Flats Site.
He holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Colorado State University and a master’s degree in business administration from National University.
Mary Neu has moved from the Laboratory's Chemistry, Life, and Earth Science to become special assistant to the Laboratory director for planning, coordinating, and integrating cross-organizational activities along the Pajarito Corridor.
“Mary’s deep understanding of both our experimental science needs and the regulatory environment will help us meet the extraordinary challenges of revitalizing our nuclear and radiological facilities along the corridor,” said Laboratory Director Michael Anastasio.
Nan Sauer will serve as acting associate director for Chemistry, Life, and Earth Science. The Lab is conducting a search for competitive selection of Neu’s successor. Meanwhile, Ed Kober, leader of the Institute for Multiscale Materials Studies, is serving as acting leader of LANL’s National Security Education Center Institutes during Sauer’s absence.
