Keep up-to-the-minute with LANL's Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube
October 1, 2010—Social media is all the rage for those who want to stay up to the minute. Now with just a click of an icon, keep up with LANL news, views, sights and sounds through Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube.
These tools can be found on the external website. Tell your family and friends. Become a follower!
Unfamiliar with these popular social media tools? Here’s a brief rundown:
Twitter is an information network that allows users to send and read other users’ messages called “tweets.” Each message (maximum 140-characters) goes directly to those who have signed up to “follow” a user. And while employees can’t receive or send tweets on a LANL BlackBerry, you can check the Lab’s Twitter postings from your computer and sign up to receive tweets on your personal cell or smart phone.
Flickr is an image and video hosting website primarily for users to share and embed photographs. LANL photographs currently posted to Flickr include general Lab views as well as science and technology, supercomputing, employee, and historic shots. Photos will be added continually.
A website for sharing and viewing videos, YouTube makes it possible to share videos worldwide within minutes. LANL topics range from updates on scientific breakthroughs to presentations by Laboratory staff.
