Director's colloquium to feature MIT president Charles VestContact: Steve Sandoval, (505) 665-9206 (99-104) LOS ALAMOS, N.M., July 7, 1999 -- Massachusetts Institute of Technology President Charles Vest will talk about the changing relationships between industry, academia and the government during a Director's Colloquium Thursday (July 8) at the Department of Energy's Los Alamos National Laboratory. The colloquium begins at 1:10 p.m., in Los Alamos' Administration Building Auditorium at Technical Area 3. The talk is open to the public. Vest's talk, "The Evolving Relationship of Industry and Research-intensive Universities," focuses on the shifting relationships among industry, academia and government and the substantial challenges in areas such as intellectual property, market-based pressures and the time frame of academic research.
