Environmental Restoration Program to hold public meeting April 18Contact: David Lyons, davidlyons@lanl.gov, (505) 665-9198 LOS ALAMOS, N.M., April 12, 2001 -- Los Alamos National Laboratorys Environmental Restoration (ER) will host an open house and introductory presentation regarding the inactive landfill at the Los Alamos County Airport Wednesday (April 18) from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Fuller Lodge. A brief overview of five airport potential release sites will be presented. The overview will focus on the landfill areas and scheduled upcoming work. Potential release sites are suspected of having the potential to release contaminants into the environment. PRSs include solid waste management areas, some hazardous waste sites, and other areas of concern. A poster display also will highlight the PRSs related to the upcoming corrective action at the airport landfill and associated hillsides, and will illustrate the types of debris to be encountered.
