Halloween to be celebrated at Lab on FridayContact: Michael Carlson, mcarlson@lanl.gov, (505) 665-4610 (00-143) LOS ALAMOS, N.M., Oct. 24, 2000 -- Halloween in Los Alamos should prove to be educational as well as fun when the Department of Energys Los Alamos National Laboratory Bradbury Science Museum presents its sixth annual High Tech Halloween from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27. Children of all ages are encouraged to dress-up and participate in learning about the principles of light and vision as part of this years theme, "Light, Sight and Fright." The museum will judge and display jack-o'-lanterns on Thursday and Friday with carving at the Los Alamos Elks Lodge by Los Alamos children and teenagers. The Elks Lodge is offering an opportunity Wednesday at 6 p.m. for those 17 and under to carve pumpkins that can be entered in the museums contest. The winning pumpkins will be announced and awarded ribbons Friday, and the entries will be displayed at the museum. The community outreach event draws children every year from Los Alamos, Pojoaque, Santa Fe and other communities. More news releases from the Community Relations Office (CRO) |
