LOS ALAMOS, N.M., July 14, 2000 -- Astrophysicist Stephen Becker will tour the solar system in a talk and presentation next Wednesday, July 19 at the Bradbury Science Museum of the Department of Energy's Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Becker, who is in Los Alamos' Thermonuclear Applications Group, will present a review of the solar system, highlighting new data gathered from satellite observations, improved astronomical observation techniques and the Hubble Space Telescope, starting with the sun and working outward through the planets and their moons and ending at the solar system boundary at the edge of the Comet Oort Cloud.

Becker's talk begins at 7 p.m. and is open to the public. The presentation also is part of the regular meeting of the Pajarito Astronomers organization.

As part of the presentation, Becker will use slides to illustrate some of the interesting features of the planets and their moons. In addition, samples of meteorites will be available for the public to view.

Bradbury Science Museum is part of Los Alamos' Community Relations Office.

The Bradbury Science Museum is located at 15th Street and Central Avenue in Los Alamos. Museum hours, apart from special events are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
