LOS ALAMOS, N.M., May 1, 2000 -- Defining "wild brains" and discovering where they roam will be the subject of a Director's Colloquium Thursday at the Department of Energy's Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Nationally syndicated business columnist, author and speaker Dale Dauten will discuss "Where the Wild Brains Roam" in a presentation that is free and open to the public.

The colloquium begins at 1:10 p.m. in the Laboratory's Physics Building Auditorium at Technical Area 3.

In his talk, Dauten describes how "wild brains," his term for original thinkers, win the never-ending battle with mediocrity. Dauten said that his talk will urge managers and employees to welcome change and it will provide easy, immediate steps to "stop being ordinary" and instead give customers "something to talk about."

Dauten's columns, "The Corporate Curmudgeon" and "Kate and Dale Talk Jobs," appear in over 100 newspapers nationwide including The Chicago Tribune, The Arizona Republic and The New York Post. "The Corporate Curmudgeon," which focuses on the human side of business, appears locally in the Albuquerque Journal.

Dauten's most recent books include The Gifted Boss and The Max Strategy.
