Updated 5/7/08 Diamond Drive construction continues Laboratory employees and other motorists will encounter additional possible delays on Diamond Drive as work continues on a construction project. Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction the length of the project, from south of the Baptist Church to east of 35th Street. Left turns are now allowed within the work zone, but will require split phase traffic control at the Diamond Drive-Arkansas-38th streets intersection. North and southbound traffic on Diamond Drive will get a green light in only one direction at a time to enable left turns without having to wait for a break in oncoming traffic. This approach will reduce the intersection capacity and will most likely increase traffic back up and delays on Diamond Drive. Motorists are urged to plan for additional commute time. Employees and other motorists should follow posted speed limits and use caution when driving through the work zone. More information is available from the Los Alamos County Public Works Department Web site. Or call the Public Works Department at 662-8150, or by write to lacpw@lacnm.us by email.
