Laboratory scientists Cheryl Kuske, Tim Germann, and Andrew Erickson are the 2006 Fellows Prize recipients.
Kuske, of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology (B-1) and Germann, of Applied Science and Methods Development (X-1-SMMP) are receiving the Fellows Prize for outstanding research. Erickson, of International Technology (ADTR-IT), was recognized with the Fellows Prize for leadership.
The scientists will be recognized at a colloquium and reception January 9, 2007 in the Physics Building Auditorium at Technical Area 3.
The Fellows' Prize for Research honors individuals for outstanding research performed at the Lab, published within the past 10 years, and exerting a significant disciplinary or programmatic impact. The Fellows' Prize is open to all full-time staff members; however, fellows and postdoctoral researchers are ineligible for consideration.
The Fellows' Prize for Leadership commends individuals exhibiting outstanding scientific and engineering leadership. The prize is open to any currently employed Lab technician, technical staff member or manager, with the exception of fellows.
"These individuals embody the excellence in scientific research and leadership essential to the Laboratory's success. Their contributions are indispensable to accomplishing our mission," Laboratory Director Mike Anastasio said in an all-employee memo.
Laboratory employees nominate staff members for the Fellows' Prize. A committee of Laboratory Fellows reviews the nominations and recommends its selection to the director.
