Pollution prevention winners recognizedApril 23, 2008
Dick Watkins, associate director for environment, safety, health, and quality, applauds three members of the containment vessels at DARHT firing point team at Tuesday's 2008 Laboratory Pollution Prevention awards program. Fifty-five individuals or teams were recognized during a ceremony in the Physics Building Auditorium.
Representing the team, left to right, are Dave Melton and Kurt Anast of Hydrodynamics and Brandy Duran of Inorganic Isotope and Actinide Chemistry. Their project received a Lab Best-in-Class award for eliminating 96 cubic meters of low-level waste and 40,000 gallons of radioactive liquid waste from four fully-contained high-explosive experiments at DARHT in the 2007 fiscal year. A list of all the winners is here. The Pollution Prevention Awards are part of the Lab's celebration of Earth Day on Tuesday.
