By Ed Vigil

April 23, 2008

Preparedness is essential

Staff from Emergency Management can answer questions and provide information on the upcoming wildfire season at the Wildfire 2008 public meeting from 5 to 7 this evening at Fuller Lodge.

Wildfire season is off to an early start with several fires burning around the state. At Wildfire 2008, the public can learn about ways to deal with and prepare for wildfires. There will be handouts on how to protect the home, create defensible space, fire proof your house, prescribed burns, and the Community Wildfire Protection Plan.

Staff from Los Alamos County Emergency Management, the Fire and Parks and Recreation departments, and Bandelier National Monument also will be available to answer questions.
