Competition tests students' science, engineering skills

Students from Van Buren Middle School in Albuquerque hold the winning trophy in celebration after capturing first place in the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Car competition last Saturday in Albuquerque. The Laboratory co-sponsored the event at the Albuquerque Public Schools City Center.

Twenty-six teams from throughout the state competed in the event, designed to test students' science and engineering skills.

Leyva Middle School in Carlsbad get ready to race their hydrogen fuel cell car at last Saturday's competition. The Carlsbad team won the race and took second place in the overall competition. Third place went to Desert Ridge Middle School in Albuquerque.
