Spring winds can create hazards on trails

Watch for falling trees

On a recent tour of fire roads in technical areas 15 and 39, Emergency Management and Response personnel came across this widow-maker. A widow-maker is a dead tree that blows down in the wind. Laboratory employees and the public out hiking and jogging should be aware of their surroundings when exercising and use the buddy system or take a cell phone, if authorized.
