Lab part of new hydrogen and fuel cell research collaboration
The Laboratory on Tuesday announced the birth of a collaboration on the development of fuel cells and hydrogen technologies between Los Alamos, Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST).
Pay checks for UC Lab employees to be split
University of California Laboratory employees will receive a final payroll check from UC and a separate check from Los Alamos National Security, LLC because of the changeover to a new management and operations contractor.
Readiness Review of Lab has begun
Two weeks remain until Los Alamos National Security, LLC becomes the new management and operations contractor for the Laboratory, and LANS recently began a "readiness review" to ensure that the Lab continues operating safely and securely.
Lab’s Williams receives Emerald Honors award
Rube Williams of Nuclear Design and Risk Analysis (D-5), a nuclear engineer currently on entrepreneurial leave from the Laboratory, won the 2006 Emerald Honors Minorities in Research Science Award in the Community Service and Educational Leadership categories.
Los Alamos Employees' Scholarship Fund drive campaign continues
The Los Alamos Employees' Scholarship Fund, which encourages Laboratory employees, retirees and subcontract personnel to donate to a fund that awards college scholarships to Northern New Mexico area students, continues.
Lab encourages cycling, bike safety
Steadily rising gas prices isn't the only reason to consider riding a bicycle to work. On Friday, Laboratory employees are encouraged to park the car or truck and ride a bicycle to work as part of National Bike to Work Day.
