Los Alamos and NNSA jointly help Georgia Tech decommission cobalt-60 gamma irradiator
The National Nuclear Security Administration/Laboratory Off-Site Source Recovery Project (OSRP) has removed 68,000 curies of radioactive cobalt-60 from the Neely Nuclear Research Center (NNRC) at the Georgia Institute of Technology campus in downtown Atlanta. The 220 sealed sources were recovered in three separate loads and shipped to the Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration facility at the Nevada Test Site.
