Los Alamos and NNSA jointly help Georgia Tech decommission cobalt-60 gamma irradiator

The National Nuclear Security Administration/Laboratory Off-Site Source Recovery Project (OSRP) has removed 68,000 curies of radioactive cobalt-60 from the Neely Nuclear Research Center (NNRC) at the Georgia Institute of Technology campus in downtown Atlanta. The 220 sealed sources were recovered in three separate loads and shipped to the Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration facility at the Nevada Test Site.


Classified colloquium to explore threat to U.S. from electromagnetic pulse attack
The potential threat to the United States from an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack is the topic of a classified Director's Colloquium today by Laboratory weapons scientist Michael Bernardin.
Temporary government parking permits for 2006 to go out soon
The Laboratory will issue new 2006 temporary parking permits to replace the 2005 permits currently in use. Divisions should destroy their current permits after Jan. 31 and start using the new ones after Feb. 1.
Fix-It team action leads to reduced paperwork
A concern submitted to the Fix-It Team has led to less paperwork for Laboratory employees.

Laboratory employees who eat at the Otowi Building cafeteria at Technical Area 3 may want to bring a sack lunch Dec. 21-23.
