Speaker: poverty, lack of understanding are seeds for ecological disaster

The loss of biodiversity and how the human race can counteract such ecological damage was the subject of two lectures Tuesday in Los Alamos by Peter Raven, director of the Missouri Botanical Gardens and professor of biology at Washington University.
