Lab upgrades to Security Condition 2

The Laboratory has upgraded to Security Condition 2 consistent with national terrorist threat level orange. The National Nuclear Security Administration on Monday directed the Lab to raise its security level and awareness.


Materials deliveries no longer will be made to vulnerable drop points
As a result of a recent study designed to help improve Laboratory business practices, materials deliveries will not be made to designated drop points that do not have, at a minimum, visual oversight of delivered packages by a representative of the receiving organization or facility.
Manhattan Project women discussed in talk at Lab Wednesday
Archaeologist Ellen McGehee of Ecology (RRES-ECO) will talk about some of the women pioneers who came to Los Alamos during the Manhattan Project at a brown-bag talk Wednesday at RRES-ECO.

Interim Laboratory Director Pete Nanos will deliver a state of the Laboratory talk to the work force at 10 a.m., March 25, in the Administration Building Auditorium at Technical Area 3.

Memorial service for Lab employee O'Rourke set for Thursday
A memorial service for Laboratory employee Shirley O'Rourke is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church on Diamond Drive in Los Alamos. O'Rourke, 57, died last Saturday.
Water Tower installed at new Emergency Operations Center
Workers at the new Emergency Operations Center at Technical Area 69 spent last Saturday lifting the stem and bulb of the facility's water tower into place. The 71-foot stem weighs about 83,800 pounds and the bulb weighs 73,000 pounds.
