Raffle for prizes planned

Roxanne Olguin of Isotope and Nuclear Chemistry (C-INC) holds the authentic Santa Fe basket, which was won by her mother, Barbara Chavez of the Performance Surety (PS) Division Office at the Chemistry (C) Division's basket bonanza to raise funds for the Lab's 2005 United Way giving campaign. Nearly $2,200 was raised for this year's giving campaign. Olguin rode a streak of good luck at the event; she also won the gift wrap basket; her stepmother won the miscellaneous Christmas basket; and a cousin at Los Alamos National Bank won the baking materials basket. Some 15 baskets were raffled off. Inset photo: the authentic Santa Fe basket included salsa, chile ristra candles, a chile wind chime, music CD's, home made tortillas and other Northern New Mexico goodies.

A number of Laboratory directorates and organizations sponsored the combination bake sale-frito pie sale and raised $2,100 for this year's giving campaign. The campaign ends Wednesday. Through Monday, about $574,000 has been raised in pledges in this year's campaign. The Lab will conduct a raffle for a number of items with a total value of $1,700. Funds for the raffle prizes were donated by the Executive Board. Prizes to be raffled include airline tickets, restaurant certificates and spa treatments. Photos by Ed Vigil, Public Affairs
