What to Expect

Los Alamos (elevation 7,355 feet) has a mild, four-season climate. Summers have moderately warm days and cool nights where afternoon temperatures are in the 70s and 80s and infrequently reach above 90°F. Afternoon thunderstorms in July and August mark the "monsoon" season in northern New Mexico. Winters are typically short with many mild, sunny days. There is usually just enough snow to support the local ski area.

Be Prepared

Climate and weather conditions can vary across northern New Mexico. Dress in layers and bring an umbrella—just in case. Our blue skies also mean you'll need protection from the sun—wear sunscreen and your shades. And with our altitude and low humidity, be sure to stay well hydrated.
