Science on Tap - Creativity under pressure

Join us at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 17 at UnQuarked.
Those of all ages are welcome to attend the event.

Creativity under Pressure or Why Disarming a Terrorist Nuke Is like Defending against Aliens in Space

For this talk, Barry Charles, with the Lab's Global Security organization, will recreate the TEDxLANL talk he gave earlier this year.

Disarming an improvised nuclear weapon is a challenge the world has never faced. Yet nuclear emergency responders are required to train for, be prepared for, and be 100 percent successful in such a situation. Will we need a new way of solving problems to help us prepare for when the scientific method no longer applies?

Science on tap

Science on Tap is a convivial opportunity to engage with Lab scientists on their current projects. A brief presentation is followed by lively questions, answers and discussion. The fun takes place on the third Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the UnQuarked Wine Room at 145 Central Park Square in Los Alamos.

The sessions are a joint project between the Bradbury Science Museum and the Los Alamos Creative District.
