No, Not Ray Bradbury

Norris Bradbury

The Museum is NOT named after the science fiction author Ray Bradbury, but rather Norris Bradbury, the director of the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory from 1945 until 1970.

But they did know about each other. Ray Bradbury sent a note to Norris in 1960 commenting, “.....we are in the same business, but on different sides of the street. For some years now I’ve been revving up the new generations as they come along. When they reach the proper fever pitch, I’ll hand them over to you.”

The bronze bust of Norris Bradbury in the lobby of the Bradbury Science Museum was created by sculptor Glenna Goodacre and donated by Margaret and John Strong.
