Distinquished Performance Awards

The Distinguished Performance Awards recognize individuals and small and large teams for job performance above and beyond what is normally expected. In 2002 this prestigious award included seven individuals, ten small teams and seven large teams, including the following MST employees:

Greg Kaduchak (MST-11) was awarded an Individual Distinguished Performance Award for his innovative development of chemical and biological warfare agent sensor technology and its timely delivery, after the 9/11 events and in advance of the Iraq war, to end users in various US government anti-terrorism efforts. His sensor developments include a non-invasive chemical warfare agent detector and an acoustic concentrator that can be used as a front end to dramatically enhance the sensitivity of existing bio- agent detectors.

A Distinguished Performance Large Team Award went to the MST-11 Palm Power team led by Piotr Zelenay for their outstanding accomplishment in developing prototype Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) systems to provide 20W portable soldier power for the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA) Palm Power Project. Members of the honored team are: Eric Brosha, John Davey, Christian Eickes, Robert Fields, Francois Le Scornet, Dennis Lopez, Piotr Piela, Bryan Pivovar, Geraldine Purdy, John Ramsey, John Rowley, Mahlon Wilson, Christine Zawodzinski, Piotr Zelenay, and Yimin Zhu.

Glenn Thornton (MST-OPS) was part of the Los Alamos Mars Odyssey Team that won a Distinguished Performance Large Team Award.
