What products can I order through Interlibrary Loan?
Print books, theses/dissertations, or print conference proceedings.
You cannot use interlibrary loan for: standards, journals, articles, or electronic resources.
What do I need to be eligible?
An active Z number is required.
How long does it usually take?
Books generally arrive from the lending library within 2 weeks, but may take up to 4 weeks. You will be notified via email when a book is ready to be picked up from the Research Library.
Note that it may take up to a month if you request an interlibrary loan around the holidays because many libraries may have modified hours.
How long are the loan periods?
The loan period is usually 3-4 weeks, depending on the lending library's policies. You can email us at any time to request a renewal.
Interlibrary loans MUST be returned by the due date. Unlike LANL-owned books, fees or penalties WILL apply if they are not returned on time.
Where do I pick up and return my ILL books?
We DO NOT send ILLs via interoffice mail, you will need to pick up and return your ILL to the Library. Please, do not remove the yellow label - it is needed to clear your account.
