New Mexico Water Quality Control Commission Regulations Program

To prevent pollution to New Mexico’s water supply, administrators in the New Mexico Water Quality Control Commission (NMWQCC) maintain a continuous water quality management program that includes a planning process and a set of water quality standards and regulations. This program complies with the federal Clean Water Act and the wellhead protection and sole source aquifer programs of the Safe Drinking Water Act. LANL performs various testing, documenting, and analyzing processes to comply with the NMWQCC.

This comprehensive program includes the following:

  • Subpart I - Notice of Intent to Discharge (NOIs)
  • Subpart II - Notification of Discharge-Removal
  • Subpart III - Groundwater Discharge Plans and Groundwater Standards
  • Subpart IV - Abatement of Groundwater Pollution
