- The U.S. Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Los Alamos Site Office posted a wetland assessment for work occurring at the Burning Ground Spring for comment in accordance with Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 1022 (Compliance with Floodplain and Wetland Environmental Review Requirements). The comment period ended on September 18, 2009 and no comments were received.
- The installation of a carbon filtration water treatment system will be used for this cleanup activity within the CaƱon de Valle at Los Alamos National Laboratory. The New Mexico Environment Department has identified the use of carbon filtration as the preferred method of treatment so that spring waters can continue to be used by wildlife present in the area. The NNSA has determined that this is the preferred method of treatment, and will implement the action.
