Reports

Open Burn

Open Burn Permits

In 2002, under this regulation (20.2.60 NMAC), NMED issued permits for operational burns that are conducted for mitigation of hazards associated with high-explosive-contaminated materials and waste and research of accident scenarios involving fire.

In January 2006, LANL cancelled all open burn permits for operational burns.

Regulations

Rad-NESHAP

Rad-NESHAP Construction/Modification Approvals

Under the Radionuclides-National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (Rad-NESHAP) regulation, pre-construction applications are sent to EPA for new or modified projects that increase radiological emissions over a specified threshold. LANL does not have any active Rad-NESHAP pre-construction permits.

Regulations

  • 40 CFR 61.90 National Emission Standards for Emissions of Radionuclides Other Than Radon From Department of Energy Facilities
  • 40 CFR 61.07 Application Process for Approval of Construction or Modification
