Weather: Santa Fe is located in a "high desert" environment at about 7000 feet (2100 meters) elevation. The weather during May is generally dry but occasional afternoon thunderstorms, which are usually brief but intense, are possible. Typical daytime temperatures are in the mid to upper 70's Fahrenheit (mid 20's Celsius) with abundant high-altitude sunshine. High-SPF sunscreen, a hat and plenty of water are recommended if you plan on taking daytime walks. Nighttime temperatures typically drop into the mid to low 50's Fahrenheit (13 Celsius) with occasional "cold spells" in the mid to upper 40's Fahrenheit (10 Celsius). Lightweight, cool attire is suggested during the day, but bring a light jacket for evening strolls.
