About the High School Cooperative Program

Program Overview

The High School Cooperative (HS Coop) Program provides regional qualified high school seniors the opportunity to develop skills and gain work experience, while receiving exposure to a variety of technical and administrative career fields. This popular program provides employability skills and assists local area high school students with the school-to-work transition.

Participants who successfully complete the program may be eligible to receive high school credit from their school. The participating high schools establish eligibility criteria to receive this credit.

Regional students from alternative schooling, including home-schooled students, are also welcome to apply (with guidance counselor approval).

Students have the opportunity to work full-time during the summer between the junior and senior year, and may continue the appointment in part-time status during the academic year.

Applicants are screened by designated high school representatives for aptitudes and interests, grade point average, and number of credits toward graduation. Students may be involved in research and applied science which is done in a variety of Science Subject Areas.

High School Coop Post Graduate Category

If you are a high school graduate and have not been accepted or enrolled into an undergraduate program, you may be eligible for the High School Coop Post Graduate category.

Post Graduate students may move to UGS status when documentation is provided indicating acceptance into an undergraduate program. Good academic standing is required.
