Internships

Staff at Los Alamos National Laboratory recognize that in order to maintain and cultivate a well-educated workforce, we must provide a quality learning environment for all students. The objective is to provide an opportunity to explore a variety of technical and non-technical career fields.

Internship programs are administered through the Education Program Office (STB/EPO).

Internship programs strive to provide opportunities that provide meaningful work experiences while incorporating education and training activiies.

Students have an opportunity to contribute to the Laboratory’s mission while working with state-of-the-art equipment and instruments.

Electro Mechanical Technician: Overview

The Electro Mechanical Technician Training Program (EMTP) is a work-study program co-sponsored by LANL and the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos (UNM-LA).

Upon successful completion of the two-year training program, students are awarded a certificate in Electro Mechanical Technology. Historically, more than 90% of each graduating class has been converted to regular employment status within the Laboratory, depending on position availability, funding, and positive evaluations.
