Honor the Women in Your Life dinner: May 9

Dinner participants of this benefit event will enjoy an evening of dining, music and culture while contributing to the healing and safety of victims and children of domestic violence. Saturday Science Cinema: May 10, 17, 24, 31

Every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. the Bradbury Science Museum features a short science film ranging in topics from microbes and aquifers to addiction. Since the film’s topics are appropriate for various ages, check the museum’s calendar for further details on what’s playing on a particular Saturday. The museum is located at 1350 Central Avenue in Los Alamos.

Expression of interest due for Supercomputing Challenge’s Summer Teacher Institute

Each summer the Supercomputing Challenge project offers a weeklong institute for middle- and high-school teachers planning to participate in the next student challenge. Participants receive a stipend plus room and board; become part of an established, professional learning community; and receive mentoring throughout the challenge year for themselves and their teams. As in recent years, the 2014 Summer Teacher Institute takes place at New Mexico Tech in Socorro. To express interest, email consult@challenge.nm.org.
