Lab school supply drive starts July 15
Lab school supply drives starts July 15
Each year Lab employees, contractors and others help outfit children with much-needed supplies to start their school year off right. The goal for this year is to distribute 700 backpacks full of materials to students who need them throughout the seven-county region in Northern New Mexico, including to tribal schools.
Anyone who would like to contribute to the campaign can take supplies to the Lab's Community Programs Office or to any of the Del Norte Credit Union location in Santa Fe, Espanola, Los Alamos or White Rock. Donations will be accepted through August 7.
To make contributions go farther, plan on taking advantage of New Mexico’s tax-free weekend, this is normally the first weekend in August 2-4. For more information on what is nontaxable go to the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department’s website.
The backpacks filled the supplies below can be dropped of at any branch of Del Norte Credit Union or the Lab’s Community Programs Office in downtown Los Alamos at 1619 Central Avenue Los Alamos, NM. Employees and contractors can drop off their donations at a host of sites around the Lab.
