Lab 70th Anniversary Lecture: Early Histories of Los Alamos and Arzamas-16 on June 12
As part of the Lab’s 70th anniversary lecture series, Professor Istvan Hargittai, of the Budapest University of Science and Technology, will visit the Bradbury Science Museum and compare the early histories of Los Alamos and its Soviet counterpart, Arzamas-16. The talk is scheduled for Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. The talk is open to the public and no advance reservation is required. The Museum is located at 1350 Central Ave in Los Alamos. Deadline for Regional College/Returning Student Scholarships is June 17
Students who had to interrupt their formal education due to military service, family needs or other reasons may qualify for the Los Alamos National Laboratory Foundation’s Regional College/Returning Student Scholarship. The scholarships are one-year grants of $1,000 and applicants can reapply yearly while they complete a two-year degree or certification at an accredited regional college. The deadline for the applications is Monday, June 17.
The scholarship is intended to support those who are ready to expand their career opportunities. Applicants must be a resident in one of Northern New Mexico's seven counties (Los Alamos, Mora, Rio Arriba, San Miguel, Sandoval, Santa Fe and Taos) and they must be accepted into a degree or certification program at an accredited college or are already pursuing such education.

Conference on “Promoting Confident & Joyful Parenting” June 24-25
The Los Alamos National Laboratory Foundation will hold its 4th annual First Born conference on June 24-25 regarding “Promoting Confident & Joyful Parenting.” This interactive session will focus on those who perform home visits whether for medical or other reasons.
It will run from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., both days, at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort located at 1300 Tuyuna Trail, Santa Anna Pueblo, NM 87004. The cost is $100 and includes lunch and conference materials.
