We want to support and grow regional businesses because we need to support the region where we reside.
As of January 2013, Chris Fresquez is the Laboratory’s Small Business Program Manager. In addition to his experience gained during 22 years at the Lab supporting procurement across many different divisions, he also brings retail and small-business experience. He has a business degree from New Mexico State University and is a Certified Purchasing Manager.

Fresquez and his team support businesses within Northern New Mexico, including those in area pueblos, by providing tools and resources that they can use to obtain contracts from Los Alamos and from other government entities as well.

Despite unknown budgets for the Lab, Fresquez’s goal is to actually increase regional purchasing. “We want to support and grow regional businesses because we need to support the region where we reside,” said Fresquez. “It’s going to be challenging but by leveraging everything from subcontracts for regional businesses, to helping businesses work together to meet contract specifications, we’re working diligently to meet those goals.”
