In 2009, the City of Carlsbad established a Veterans Memorial Park Committee. Now, a number of plaques and other memorials are being placed in the Park, and Lab employees working in Carlsbad decided that they wanted to show appreciation for regional veterans by purchasing and placing their own remembrance. On November 12, a dedication ceremony will recognize newly placed memorials in the Park, including one from LANL employees that says:

“Los Alamos National Laboratory Carlsbad Operations–In honor and constant remembrance of the commitment service and sacrifice of our Veterans from Carlsbad and Southeastern New Mexico”

The stone monument was purchased with funds raised through an auction and individual contributions from employees in the Lab’s Repository Sciences group.
