LOS ALAMOS, New Mexico, March 6, 2012—Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Community Programs Office received Piñon Recognition from Quality New Mexico. LANL will be recognized at QNM’s annual learning summit and awards ceremony April 3-4 in Albuquerque.

Organizations receiving Piñon Recognition have demonstrated development and use of systematic processes as a foundation for analysis and improvement to attain improved organizational outcomes, according to Quality New Mexico.

“This award represents a team effort across the whole Community Programs Office, helping the Lab meet its national security mission,” said Community Programs Office Director Kurt Steinhaus. “Now the real work begins, making use of the feedback report to implement strategies for continuous improvement.”

“We congratulate LANL’s Community Programs Office for receiving Piñon Recognition in the New Mexico Quality Awards Program,” said Julia Gabaldon, president and chief executive officer of Quality New Mexico. “Kurt and his team are committed to providing the very best service to their customers.”

LANL has received 14 Piñon and Roadrunner recognitions from Quality New Mexico since 1997.

The nonprofit Los Alamos National Laboratory Foundation also received Piñon Recognition from Quality New Mexico.

LANL is a President’s Circle sponsor of the learning summit and awards ceremony. For more than a decade, LANL staff members have served as examiners who review applications submitted to QNM. Laboratory staff members also have been judges, editors and loaned executives to Quality New Mexico.
