Nationally recognized speaker sponsored by Northern New Mexico Connect

LOS ALAMOS, New Mexico, March 29, 2010—Brad Feld, a renowned early-stage investor and entrepreneur, will attend a meeting of the Open Coffee Club networking event from 10 a.m. to noon April 1 at Los Alamos Research Park, 4200 West Jemez Road. The event is a first of its kind in Los Alamos and is open to anyone interested in startup companies in New Mexico.

Feld has been an early-stage investor and entrepreneur for more than 20 years and is founder of Intensity Ventures, a company that helped launch and operate software companies, as well as cofounder of Mobius Venture Capital and Foundry Group. He is a nationally recognized speaker on the topics of venture capital investing and entrepreneurship.

Open Coffee Club encourages entrepreneurs, developers, and investors to organize real-world informal meet ups to chat, network, and grow. An informal atmosphere allows people to come and go, and there is no set agenda.

Northern New Mexico Connect, the principal economic development investment arm of Los Alamos National Laboratory, is sponsoring the event and Flywheel Ventures serves as manager of the Open Coffee.

Feld writes the blog Feld Thoughts and founded his own company, Feld Technologies, in 1987. Specializing in custom software applications, the company grew into one of Boston’s leading software consulting firms. Feld Technologies ultimately was acquired byAmeriData Technologies, where Feld served as chief technology officer and oversaw AmeriData’s diversification into software consulting. AmeriData is a $1.5 billion publically traded company that was acquired by GE Capital in 1995.

Feld has been active with several nonprofit organizations and is chairman of the National Center for Women and Information Technology. He currently serves on the board of directors of Gist, Gnip, Oblong, Standing Cloud, and Zynga for Foundry Group and holds bachelor of science and master of science degrees in management science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
