Introduction

The 44th Annual Conference on Bioassay, Analytical, and Environmental Radiochemistry (BAER) will take place in Albuquerque, NM at the Marriott Hotel. The annual conference is a vehicle for chemists and physicists to gain insight, share experience, and develop solutions to problems in an informal setting. The Conference Organizing Committee is making a concerted effort to plan the programs as far ahead as possible to enhance the coordination and overall quality of the meeting. We would like to solicit your help to accomplish this goal by sending in your registration form and abstracts as soon as possible.

This year's conference, as in past years, will consist of a series of vendor workshops on Sunday, technical workshops on Monday, and with individual presentations in general technical sessions Tuesday through Thursday. We are happy to receive abstracts from all professionals in the radiation field who are interested in discussing the latest techniques or relevant issues. The conference organizers are especially interested in receiving abstracts in the following areas:

Final abstracts (those to appear in the conference binder) must be submitted on hard copy or by E-mail (preferred) no later than September 30, 1998. Authors are encouraged to submit either extended abstracts (up to five pages including figures, tables, and references) or more traditional 1-page abstracts. The following format is recommended: (1) all abstracts be submitted without page numbers on hard copy or by E-mail; (2) the name of the author who will be making the presentation should be underlined; (3) abstracts may be either single or double-spaced using a 12 point font; and (4) provide at least a 1" margin on all sides of standard 8.5" by 11" paper.

Send all abstracts to:
Dr. C. F. Wu
Westinghouse WID
P.O.Box 2078
Carlsbad, NM 88221-2078
Phone: 505-234-8384
Fax: 505-885-4562
E-mail: wuc@wipp.carlsbad.nm.us

In addition, you may earn 2 Continuing Education Units per half day up to a maximum of 12 per meeting when attending the Annual Conference on Bioassay, Analytical, and Environmental Radiochemistry. BAER is listed as an International Scientific Meeting in accordance with the published "American Academy of Health Physics Continuing Education Policy." It is in the same category as Health Physics Society Annual Meeting, American Nuclear Society Annual Meeting, and American Chemical Society Annual Meeting.

If you are interested in sponsoring a workshop, please prepare a short description of your proposed workshop, and contact Amir Mohagheghi at 505-844-6910 for Vendor Workshops, or Don Gray at 505-885-9675 for Technical Workshops.
